PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The VITEOR project brings together UNIOR d.d., a globally recognized manufacturer of metalworking machines, with SMEs developing innovative digital and technical solutions (VIAR d.o.o., Inkolteh d.o.o., Moderne tehnologije d.o.o.). Together we combine knowledge and experience to develop an advanced vertical machining centre, VITEOR. The know-how and outcomes of the project will subsequently be transferred to other types of machines and products.
PROJECT PURPOSE
To build a modern machining tool that incorporates advanced technical solutions to improve metalworking processes and address the challenges of climate change. The project will deliver a product that gives UNIOR a competitive edge on the global market, while partners will expand their visibility on domestic and international markets.
With the developed solutions, we will offer the market a unique machining centre combining technical and digital innovations in a combination not yet seen on the market. These solutions will deliver impact on quality and productivity, and help mitigate climate change through:
- Higher machining precision and reduced scrap rates.
- Replacement of emulsion cooling with environmentally neutral CO2 coolant.
- Better material and energy efficiency with longer tool life.
- Use of new materials in machine construction (polymer concrete for the base).
- Modular construction and use of a digital twin.
- Higher machine utilization through interactive digital solutions.
- Quick changeovers enabled by a flexible robotic cell.
PROJECT RESULT
The result of the project will be a technologically advanced vertical modular machining centre equipped with cryogenic cooling, a polymer-concrete base, a mobile handling cell, and supported by digital solutions: digital twin, MES-MOM system with IoT, blockchain-supported machine diagnostics, and visualization of machine data and instructions with 3D models and augmented reality.
